Select the Right Loan

At this point, you should have a good idea of where you will be going to school, how much money you have available to pay for your education, and how much money you may need to borrow.

This is where smartFUNDS comes into the picture.

We offer students and families a variety of loan packages that meet their individual qualifications and educational financing needs. In simple terms, there are three types of loans. They are known as:
1) Stafford (for students);
2) PLUS (for parents);
3) Grad PLUS (supplemental to Stafford Loans for creditworthy graduate students).

Some people think that all student loans are the same. That's not quite true. Borrowers obtaining their loans through smartFUNDS have the standard 1% federal default fee waived if the loan is guaranteed by the Missouri Department of Higher Education (MDHE). In addition, for loans first disbursed on or after June 1, 2008, all Stafford, PLUS and GradPLUS borrowers attending Missouri schools who pay their loans by auto-debit will be eligible to receive a 0.25% percent interest rate reduction during repayment.
